How to Identify a Special Child in the Classroom
Parents can’t find out if the child requires special education and other related
services until they are in elementary school. So it’s one of the main responsibilities
of a teacher to identify the special
need children in school & treat them with special care.
Here are some methods to identify a special child.
- "Child Find"
- Evaluation by teachers or Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)
- Professionals and the parents together decide if the child is a "child with a disability," as defined by IDEA.
- "Child with a disability" is eligible for special education and related services. Within 30 work days after Evaluation IEP team must meet to write an IEP for the eligible child.
- The school system schedules and conducts the IEP meeting.
- The IEP team meets to talk about the child's needs and write the student's IEP.
- The school makes sure that the child's IEP is being carried out as it was written.
- Progress is measured and reported to parents.
- The child's IEP is reviewed by the IEP team at least once a year.
- At least every three years the child must be revaluated or "triennial."
For this total process every school hire professional &
trained SEN teachers. TO be a
professional special educator you
must go through SEN teachers training course from a reputed teacher
training institution.
